Homework (+tools & materials) Due 4/4 (Thursday class) & 4/9 (Tuesday class)

Homework for 4/4 (Thursday class) and 4/9 (Tuesday class)

  • Complete any remaining cover prep at home

  • Prep text blocks for next class (details below)

  • Write one-page book plan for final project (see final project assignment sheet for more details)

Materials Prep 4/4 (Thursday class) and 4/9 (Tuesday class)

You’ll need to prep the text blocks for our next round of books, which will be exposed sewing bindings. I’ve broken it out below by the type of book.

Coptic Binding:

  • Cut 24 sheets sketch paper at 9.5 x 7” (please note that this has been revised/corrected from the dimension I gave you last class. I apologize for any confusion or additional work it may cause.)

Long Stitch Binding:

  • Cut 24 sheets sketch paper at 10” x 7”

Stab Bound:

  • Cut 25 sheets sketch paper at 8 ½” x 11”

Tools for 4/4 (Thursday class) and 4/9 (Tuesday class)

  • X-acto knife

  • Box cutter

  • Ruler

  • Cutting mat

  • PVA glue and brush

  • Bone folder

    1. If you want to get ahead a bit, you are welcome to, but I’ve built in time for that on Thursday. My hope is that Thursday can be a little less of whirlwind than the last couple classes have been. We’ll wrap up all the cover prep, take the time for page prep, and breathe a little before all the madness of the exposed sewing. 🙂
