- Final Project. Develop a one-page book plan, including a book concept description, list of materials you plan to use, and explanation of why you have chosen the form you chose. [See Final Projects Assignment Sheet for full details on the overall final assignment.]
- Adapting a binding. In your final project (and if you continue to make books outside this class) you may need to adapt existing binding styles to suit the materials you’re working with. For this week, come up with a small project in which you have to adapt one of the sewing styles you’ve already learned (coptic, stab, pamphlet sewing, sewn signatures, etc.). Bring your sample into class, and be prepared to talk about the experience–what your plans were, why you made the change you did, what worked and what didn’t, etc.
